The Forever

The Whisper Before You · The Celebration of You

A two-part poem celebrating a child’s arrival, first year, and the love that remembers home through every season of growing.

Before you were here,
the wind learned your name

It practiced in leaves - dust and slow,
preparing a place for when you show.

You came with the rain and the sun side by side,
and all that had waited exhaled, and sighed.
The raindrops tapped as the world grew still, in the hush of our love’s first thrill.

Your breath became the evenings prayer,
the night exhaled and found you there.

The world grew warm, the shadows smiled, as love leaned close to bless my child.

The road stretched wide beneath the endless blue,
clouds burst open the sunlight flew.

And time stood still for an entire year,
to welcome your laughter, your light, your tears, when the sky rejoiced.

The Celebration of You

And then the world grew soft once more,
the light bent low and the wind no more.

Each heart that sang grew still and true, and left the hush to cradle you.

The Sun bowed low, and the sky grew deep, soft lullabies drifted where the day used to leap.
The stars leaned close,
In their shimmering hue,
To whisper, “We’ll stay away for you”

You giggled once, and time forgot to move. We leaned in close, just to be sure it was true.
The air grew bright, the world in bloom, and time stood smiling, because of you.

We lit one small candle, you clapped, we cried. The world grew still, and our hearts replied.

For a moment, forever felt gentle and near, a borrowed forever, disguised as a year.

The table was crowded as everyone drew near, old stories and new ones enchanted our ears. Food on our fingers, and sweet smells in the air. And every heart knew - it belonged right here.

You tumbled through seasons, so fearless so small. Spring whispered softly, and summer recalled.

Your footprints grew longer, your laughter more wide, and time danced along, always right by your side.

Love isn’t something that fades or grows old, it’s the warmth in your hands when another you hold.
It’s the soil and the seed, the rain and the sun, a warmth that remains when the seasons are done.

Someday you’ll wander
Where we cannot see
But the wind will remember
And whisper to me
And I’ll know by it’s hum
Soft and true
That home lives forever
In both me and you.
