Rooted in memory, connection, and the unconditional worth of every person.

This moment is the only place we can ever live.
We imagine life is waiting somewhere ahead of us. Art asks us to see what is already here.Selected work

When I was young, I fished beside my grandpa with a simple cane pole, wishing for the day I would have a grown-up fishing rod. Only later did I understand: what I was waiting for was worth less than what I already had—the quiet water, my grandpa beside me, and a moment I would spend the rest of my life remembering.

She is beauty.
She is strain.
She is sunlight.
She is pain.
She is all the things we carry
and so often never say,
all the weight that gathers softly,
then comes crashing in one day.
Colors moving.
Lines all crossing.
Bright and dark from every side.
Every feeling, every memory,
nowhere left to run or hide.
Still she holds.
Still she bears.
Still she stands through all of it.
Not because the weight is easy,
not because she won't admit
that life can press
and press so hard
it leaves a tear where words won't start.
And then, one tear.
Not surrender.
Not the end.
Just the truth that even strength
sometimes bends.

A watercolor journey through love, time, and memory
The Forever is an illustrated watercolor book for adults experiencing the joy and ache of watching their children grow. It celebrates first breaths, birthdays, family rituals, and the ordinary moments that become precious only after they pass.

Words by Bryan Brouwer
Poetry that looks for the moment connection breaks through distance.
There are times the cold and dark both break,
and something rare slips through,
a quiet warmth we did not make,
but somehow know is true.
It comes without a grand display,
no trumpet, no defense,
just someone choosing, in that day,
a simple kindness meant.
We feel it rising in the chest,
then burning in the eyes,
as if the world, for just one breath,
lets fall its old disguise.
No careful words, no measured part,
no need to comprehend,
just one small reaching, heart to heart,
no reason to pretend.
And for a moment, clear and bright,
the weight we carry bends,
and we can see, in that brief light,
how distance finally ends.
It fades, as moments always do,
and leaves us standing there,
but something in us knows it true,
and knows how rare that care.
So mark it down, that quiet grace,
that light we never meant,
the sudden softness in that place
that felt like heaven sent.

Words by Bryan Brouwer
A reckoning with the distance between professed belief and lived compassion.
And they’ll know us by our love,
that’s what we like to say,
as we pray for better parking
and children burn away.
And they’ll know us by our love,
as we ask for more each day,
for comfort, wealth, promotion,
while the hungry waste away.
And they’ll know us by our love,
as the congregation cheers,
a shepherd calls to slaughter those
his God taught him to fear.
And they’ll know us by our love,
while the faithful sit and nod,
as priests and pastors rape the young,
and still speak for God.
And they’ll know us by our love,
as we bow our heads and pray,
and call inaction holiness,
and turn our eyes away.
And they’ll know us by our love,
and I know what comes from this,
you’ll read these words in silence,
and answer me with this.
And they’ll know us by our love,
through the silence that you choose,
when truth is left unanswered,
and no one dares refuse.
And they’ll know us by our love.

Meet the artist
I create to remember, to feel, and to celebrate the simple moments that make up a life.
WilliamstonArt creates emotionally resonant paintings, prints, books, and poetry rooted in memory, human connection, and intentional living. Each piece reflects a simple conviction: every person has inherent worth—without condition.
Watercolor and mixed media leave room for honesty. Mistakes, revisions, and raw marks remain visible—because presence matters more than polish, and a meaningful life was never meant to look untouched.
